Student Evaluations and Video Recording of Classes

Last day of classes, Intermediate Spanish class at UGA

Here is a link to a short selection of comments and results from previous student evaluations at the University of Georgia (2004-2006) and Duke University (2006-2008): Sample of Student Evaluations

For my recent Introduction to Linguistics (AKA “Introduction to Language”) at Hampshire College, please follow this link to a PDF with student responses and comments on my teaching: Introduction to Linguistics-Fall 2013.

If you feel like browsing the whole thing, here is a link to all my student evaluations: 51 pages of comments and results for my four years teaching Spanish in the United States are available here.

Some previous students rated me on the (in)famous webpage “Rate my professor” while working at UGA and Duke. Here are the links, if you are curious about what they had to say.

The first video was recorded on 2004, during an intermediate level class at the University of Georgia, Athens. We talked about different celebrations and cultural practices associated with them in order to contrast them with American customs.

The second video was recorded on 2006, at one of my Intermediate Spanish classes at Duke University, Durham. The main topic of the class was a guided activity after having watched the “Motorcycle Diaries” movie a couple of days before.

The last video was taken on March 2013, at Rice University. It is a guest lecture I gave for an Introduction to Linguistics (LING 200) class. The subject was a general introduction to semantics. I focused on lexical semantics, lexical relations, and metaphor.
