Lesson Plans and Class Activities

Putting the pieces together, one at a time... (At Saqsaywaman ruins, Cuzco)
Here is a small selection of lesson plans I have used for my Spanish classes at Duke University. Each one of these plans is proposed for 50 minute long classes.
- Beginning Spanish (101): Chapter 1
- Beginning Spanish (101): Chapter 2
- Intermediate Spanish (76): Chapter 5
- Intermediate Spanish (76): Chapter 8
- Advanced Composition and Grammar (110): Week 8
- Advanced Composition and Grammar (110): Literary Analysis Section
Here is an example of a task-based activity I have prepared to teach the contrast between “ser” and “estar.” I have designed it to be used with beginning level students. As you can see, the subject of the activity (“Creating the Perfect Facebook Friend”) can be readily used with social-media technology.
Task-Based activity for ser and estar (Basic level)
As “bonus material” I am adding not one, but two presentations on two classic topics in Spanish Grammar!
